Speakers at SVS Potlucks
The SVS monthly vegetarian potluck and meeting are always at 5:30 p.m. the third Sunday of each month in the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op's Community Learning Center, 1914 Alhambra Blvd (just south of the S Street intersection). Here is a list of speakers for upcoming potlucks:
January 17th -- The Ethics of Eating Animals, Intensive Farming, and Ethical Solutions. Dr. Ramona Ilea is an assistant professor of philosophy at Pacific University in Oregon. She teaches a semester-long animal ethics class, as well as classes on biomedical ethics, environmental ethics, and theoretical ethics.
Februray 21 -- Compassionate Cook. Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, a dynamic speaker, will talk about cooking with compassion and introduce her new cookbook, The Vegan Table. Colleen is a chef, cooking class instructor, and cookbook author with a master's degree in English Literature,
March 21 -- Preventing Cancer. Bronwyn Schweigerdt has a Master's degree in nutrition from Tufts University. Although our bodies are continually bombarded by cancer-causing toxins, you can learn how to fight back by eating a cancer-preventing diet. This talk will cover the basic compounds responsible for causing cancer, and how to lower your exposure.
